Card games are of course games played with traditional cards composed of four suits, 52 in all. The most common card games in casinos both land-based and online are poker, blackjack and baccarat. With card games, one does not need a casino environment to play as with slots. And owning a deck is not that expensive.
In the vicinity of one's home, in the kitchen perhaps, friends can come together over pizza and play all sorts of games. On one deck alone will come many games. In addition to casino card games, one can play bridge, hearts, and solitaire among others.
In card games, three elements mix with each other: skill, talent and luck. The fun and thrill of card games have also been immortalized in movies.
A card has two parts, the front and the back. The backs of all cards in a deck are identical while it is the front sides that are different from one another. With the standard 52-card deck is grouped according to suits and ranks. But in different places in the world, they may have dissimilar suits than the ones we know of.
The standard deck is composed of 52-cards. There are four suits namely spades, hearts, diamonds and clubs. Each suit has a rank comprised of an ace, one to ten, jack, queen and a king, totatling 13 cards per suit. Diamonds and hearts are often in red while the remaining suits are in black.
The handing of cards in games is done either in clockwise or counterclockwise pattern depending on the rules of the game. Unless otherwise specified, dealing in Northern America to Northern Russia is done clockwise. It is counterclockwise in Asia, Switzerland, and East Europe.
A player deals by collecting all the cards stack them properly then shuffles them. The purpose of shuffling is to randomize the cards in the deck. In some games, the loser does the dealing. After the shuffling comes the cutting of the deck.
The cards are dealt face down and the cards that a player receives when the cards are dealt are referred to as his or her hand. A player is only allowed to look at his or her set of cards and not the other players.
Dealing and shuffling are common to all casino card games and card games in general. Except in baccarat that has it own set of cards, all the rest use the standard deck mentioned earlier.
After the dealing and shuffling comes the twist of every game. The rules of each card game are an invention of a certain human being that through the course of time has most likely been modified.
